Capt. Erik R. Marshburn is the Commanding Officer of U.S. Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station (NCTS) Naples, Italy.  NCTS Naples is responsible for securing, operating, and defending cyber and space networks which provide multi-domain supremacy for U.S. forces in Europe, Africa, and the Central theaters of operation. Capt. Marshburn graduated from the University of Kansas in 1993 and was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps.  He earned his Master’s Degree in Information Technology Management from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif.  Additionally, he attended the Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Va, where he received fully Joint qualified designation.

Capt. Marshburn’s afloat operational tours include USS Sacramento (AOE 1) as an Engineering division officer where he deployed in support of Operation Southern Watch; USS Caron (DD 970) as Navigator, and while deployed to the Mediterranean, he was assigned Force Navigator for CTF-60; Destroyer Squadron FIFTEEN as the C4I Department Head (N6); USS George Washington (CVN 73) as the Combat Systems Officer; Carrier Strike Group THREE Information Warfare Commander embarked on USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) for its around-the-world cruise; and Carrier Strike Group FIFTEEN as the Information Warfare Commander.

His ashore tours include Surface Warfare Officer School as the Combat Information Center Officer billet specialty course lead; Joint Interagency Task Force - South as Chief of C4I Technical Control and Chief for C4I Systems Engineering; U.S. Naval Forces Korea as the Assistant Chief of Staff for C4I; and at U.S. Strategic Command as Chief for Global Operations Center C4 Operations and Deputy Division Chief of IT Enterprise Resources and Plans.

His decorations include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), and Navy Achievement Medal (three awards), and a number of unit and campaign awards.
