Lt. Steven Veres, a native of New York, graduated from Adelphi University with a B.S. in mathematics. In 2012, he enlisted in the Navy as a cryptologic technician networks (CTN).
As a CTN, he attended Joint Cyber Analysis Course (JCAC) in Pensacola, Fla. Upon graduation from JCAC, he reported to Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Georgia and worked as a Digital Network Exploitation Analyst and an Interactive On-Net Operator for three years.
Lt. Veres was professionally recommended and selected to attend Navy Officer Candidate School in Newport, R.I, in 2016. After earning his commission as a cryptologic warfare officer he received orders to NIOC Hawaii where he served as a subsurface direct support officer and supported six CNO-directed missions.
In 2020, he transferred to Cryptologic Warfare Activity 65 where he led a Department of 90 Sailors and supported a Target Office of Primary Interest (TOPI) as a Deputy Section Chief.
His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Navy Good Conduct Medal.
