Capt. Christi Montgomery

Capt. Christi Montgomery is a native of Indiana. She graduated from Indiana University in 1998 with a B.S. in Geology and a B.A. in Classical Archaeology. She attended Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Fla., and commissioned on March 17, 2000.
Early sea-duty and expeditionary assignments include service as the Staff METOC Officer to Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa, at Camp Lemonier, Djibouti, and to Headquarters, United States Central Command (CENTCOM) Joint Intelligence Operations Center, as well as OA Division Officer aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71).
Shore duty assignments include Ice Reconnaissance Officer, and Operations and Information Technology DIVO at the National / Naval Ice Center; Staff and Force METOC and Exercises Officer at Commander, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC); Future Operations Officer at Commander, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (CNMOC); Executive Officer of the Naval Oceanography Anti-Submarine Warfare Center (NOAC); Oceanography Officer Community Manager for Director, BUPERS-3; and Branch Chief and Executive Assistant for the Oceanographer of the Navy, and Director of Oceanography and Navigation (OPNAV N2N6E), as well as the Executive Assistant for the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (DCNO) for Information Warfare (OPNAV N2N6); and Lead for Maritime Operations Center readiness at Naval Information Forces.
Command assignments include Commanding Officer of the Naval Information Warfare Training Group – Gulfport, Commanding Officer of the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center in Monterey, Calif., and Information Warfare Commander for Carrier Strike Group TWELVE aboard USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78).
Educational assignments and achievements include an MEng in Systems Engineering from the University of Maryland; an MS in Meteorology and Physical Oceanography, Graduate Certificate in Space Systems Operations, Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase 1, and an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) with distinction from the Naval Postgraduate School; a Masters in National Security and Strategic Studies with highest distinction, a Graduate Certificate in Ethics and Emerging Military Technology, and JPME Phase II from the U.S. Naval War College; and a Graduate Certificate in Cloud Computing from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a 2020-2021 Fellow of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Seminar XXI Program in Foreign Politics, International Relations, and the National Interest.
Capt. Montgomery now serves as the Chief of Staff at Naval Information Forces in Suffolk, Va.
