IWTC held a Graduation Ceremony Sept. 5

Virginia Beach, Va. -- Information Warfare Training Command (IWTC) held a ceremony September 5 in Virginia Beach, Va., graduating forty-six students from the Naval Intelligence Officer Basic Course (NIOBC) and the Information Professional Basic Course (IPBC). Naval Information Force’s (NAVIFOR) Chief of Staff Capt. Bob Carmickle was guest speaker at the ceremony and spoke to the graduating class about seven key tenants:
- Never forgetting that you are now an Information Professional in the world’s greatest Navy
- Be a leader that others want to follow
- Standing up for what’s right is never wrong
- You are a warfighter and warfighting is your trade
- Stay humble and hungry
- Remember that leadership is not about you
- Take advantage of the opportunities presented to you.
Capt. Carmickle also presented the Rear Adm. Danelle Barrett Leadership Award to IPBC class leader Ens. Francis Marte, who will be stationed at Naval Computer and Telecommunication Station Sicily.
Rear Adm. Barrett dedicated her 30-year career to technological innovations, change, and inspirational leadership. She was an innovator who implemented visionary digital transformations to modernize with unprecedented speed, and she significantly improved the Navy’s Information Warfare capabilities. During her career, she mentored hundreds of shipmates, fellow officers, and friends.
Other class awards presented at the graduation ceremony include the Rear Adm. Paul Becker Leadership Award to Ens. Brandon Biwer; the Naval Intelligence Officer Basic Course Cdr, Donald M. “Mac” Showers Honor Graduate to Ens.
