Cmdr. Douglas W. Pearman
Commanding Officer, Naval Information Warfare Training Group (IWTG) Gulfport

Cmdr. Douglas W. Pearman, a native of Shawnee-Mission, Kansas, enlisted in 1994 as an aerographer’s mate (AG). He advanced to chief petty officer in 2001, and commissioned as a limited duty officer in 2003.
At sea, Cmdr. Pearman served aboard USS Kearsarge (LHD-3). As an oceanographer, he served as a special reconnaissance team lead aboard the M/V Joint Venture (HSV-1) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; as Navy special warfare liaison officer to the Naval Oceanographic Office, Stennis Space Center, Mississippi; as special projects officer for Fleet Survey Team, Stennis Space Center, Mississippi; and as staff oceanographer, navigator, and battle watch captain for Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 1 aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70).
His shore tours include service as site waivered forecaster, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Center Norfolk, Virginia; as Target Area Meteorology leading chief petty officer, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Center, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; as the executive officer, Naval Oceanography Antisubmarine Warfare Center, Stennis Space Center, Mississippi; and as special projects officer, Naval Oceanography Operations Command, Stennis Space Center, Mississippi and operations officer, Fleet Weather Center Norfolk, Virginia.
Cmdr. Pearman assumed command of Information Warfare Training Group (IWTG) Gulfport in July 2020.
He graduated from Thomas Edison State University in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in natural science and math, from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2007 with a masters of science in hydrographic science and geodetics, and from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2011 with a master of science degree in meteorology and physical oceanography. In 2014, he earned his doctorate of philosophy in physical oceanography from the Naval Postgraduate School.
Cmdr. Pearman is a qualified information warfare officer and International Category “A” hydrographer. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards).
