Ms. Tamara North is the Director for Naval Information Forces (NAVIFOR) West, in San Diego, CA. Ms. North was appointed to this Senior Leader (SL) position in March 2021, where she represents the Navy’s Information Warfare Type Commander, responsible for manning, training, equipping and maintaining readiness of Information Warfare forces across Pacific Fleet. Additionally, as the senior member of the NAVIFOR West staff, she represents the NAVIFOR Commander across a broad range of information warfare issues supporting West Coast commands, both ashore and afloat. She was previously the C5I Readiness Officer at NAVIFOR West, where she implemented and matured the Information Warfare Readiness Continuum (IWRC) to include formal adoption by United States Fleet Forces Command, implementing the requirement across the entire Navy.

Ms. North has over 30 years of service to the Navy, as an active duty Enlisted Sailor, a Naval Cryptologic Warfare Officer, and in Civilian Federal Service. She is a Defense Acquisition expert, serving over nine years at PEO C4I. She served as the Assistant Program Manager (APM) for multiple programs, including Distributed Common Ground System-Navy (DCGS-N) Increment 1 (ACAT I), Spectral (ACAT II), and was responsible for the initial transition of the current Ship's Signal Exploitation Equipment Modification (SSEE MODS) program (ACAT II) from Navy Cyber Warfare Development Group (NCWDG) and Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) to PMW 120.

She served in myriad active duty Navy tours, most notably as the Force Information Warfare Officer at Commander, Naval Surface Forces Pacific (CNSP) from 2011-2014 where she was responsible for Manning, Training, and Equipping all surface Electronic Warfare (EW), Cryptologic, and Intelligence, Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) capable units in the Pacific Fleet. Additionally, she served as the Combat Systems Assistant Department Head and the C4I Division Officer at Afloat Training Group Pacific (ATGPAC) from 2004-2007. Other highlights include a tour conducting Cryptologic Direct Support (DIRSUP) operations at Naval Security Group Activity (NSGA) San Diego, where she deployed with the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2002-2003.

Ms. North was selected as one of ASN(RDA) Secretary Geurts’ SIGMAs in October 2018, a cohort of promising acquisition professionals driving change and innovation in Defense Acquisition. She is DAWIA Program Management (PM) Level III certified. She was selected as the NAVIFOR Senior Civilian of the year for 2019 and was awarded the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award. Her personal military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal (2) and Navy Achievement medals (5). Ms. North holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems Management.
