Captain Mike Salehi, a native of Fairfax, VA, was commissioned in 1999 from the University of South Carolina. He is a Joint Qualified Officer and holds various advanced degrees and certificates from the Naval War College, Naval Postgraduate School, Joint Forces Staff College, and Defense Language Institute.  

His sea and operational tours include assignments onboard USS PHILIPPINE SEA (CG-58), where he made deployments to both the Mediterranean Sea and Persian Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He later served at Special Operations Command Pacific as Deputy Director for Intelligence, and also deployed to Joint Special Operations Task Force Philippines as the Director for Intelligence. He was also assigned as the Fleet Cryptologic Resource Coordinator for Seventh Fleet, permanently embarked on the USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19) and forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan. 

Ashore operational and staff assignments include Comptroller/Supply Department Head at Naval Security Group Activity Fort Meade; Deputy Division Chief, National Security Agency Georgia; Chief Staff Officer, Fleet Information Operations Center Georgia; Deputy Branch Chief for Cyber, Cryptology, and Electronic Warfare at Pacific Fleet Headquarters; Operations Officer, Navy Information Operations Command Hawaii, and later as Executive Officer and Deputy Task Force Commander 1070.

He has commanded Information Warfare Training Command Monterey, overseeing initial language training for prospective cryptologic linguists, foreign area officers, and exchange officers.


His most recent tour was at Indo-Pacific Combatant Command Joint Intelligence Operations Center as the Director for Operations where he led 900 personnel in the synchronization of theater-wide intelligence planning, collections, analysis, targeting, and CI/HUMINT operations.

His decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps achievement medal (2 awards), and various campaign, unit, and service awards.
