CMDR. SEAN BROWN

EXECUTIVE OFFICER, NAVY CYBER DEFENSE OPERATIONS COMMAND

12 October 2023 Cmdr. Sean Brown, a native of Cook County, Georgia, enlisted in the Navy in November 1992.  He attended Recruit Training and Radioman Class “A” School in San Diego, Calif. in 1995.  Cmdr. Brown is a graduate of Wayland Baptist University with a B.S. degree in Management of Information Systems, and of the Naval Postgraduate School with a M.S. in Network Operations and Technology.
 
His first officer assignment was aboard the USS Wasp (LHD-1) in Norfolk, Va.  He held the positions of Electronic Technician Officer, Automated Data Processing Officer, and Information Systems Officer.
 
In August 2010, Cmdr. Brown transferred to OPTEVFOR, where he held the position of Operation Test Director for the Navy Multiband Terminal, Computer Network Defense, Enhanced Polar System, and the Mobile User Objective System.  After departing OPTEVFOR, he reported to JMAST as the Officer in Charge in July 2012.
 
In October 2013, Cmdr. Brown was assigned to Amphibious Squadron Eight Staff as the Directorate of Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4) for six ships.

In February 2015, Cmdr. Brown collaborated with MARCENT, AFCENT, and NAVCENT to author the communications architecture for the evacuation of over 243 military and civilians from the American Embassy Yemen during the Houthi rebellion. As the lead communication  planner, he provided C4 direction to 40 coalition units during "Operation Decisive Storm" and "Operation Restoring Hope" while deployed to the Fifth Fleet AOR. 
 
Cmdr. Brown reported to the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) in Apr. 2017 as the Combat Systems Information Officer.  In October 2019, Cmdr. Brown was the Officer in Charge of Naval Computer and Telecommunications Strategic Communications Unit (NCTSCU) Oklahoma City, Okla.  He commanded the Navy’s only strategic Nuclear Command and Contril Mobile Communication Suites.
 
Cmdr. Brown completed his O5 Milestone as NCTAMS Lant Operations Officer where he completed the navy’s largest and most complex MILCON project to date.  He was directly responsible for the communications of 183 afloat units spanning the 2^nd, 4^th, 5^th, and 6^th Fleet AORs.
 
He is currently assigned as the Executive Officer at Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command in Suffolk, Va.
 
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards).
