Mr. Weitzman serves as the Deputy Commander, Naval Information Forces (NAVIFOR) leading a staff of more than 500 military and civilian professionals and directly manages a $1.8 billion- dollar annual budget. As the senior civilian for the Information Forces Type Command (TYCOM) staff, he assists the Commander executing the Man, Train and Equip functions for Navy Information Warfare (IW) and Fleet C5ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) capabilities. This responsibility spans 99 subordinate operational shore commands manned by more than 21,000 IW professionals operating across the globe. NAVIFOR also supports the readiness of IW & C5ISR capabilities and personnel assigned to ships, submarines, aircraft, and expeditionary units reporting to the Navy's other TYCOMs. Mr. Weitzman was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in May 2020 and served as the U.S. Fleet Forces Command Director of Manpower, Personnel & Development (N1) from May 2020 until December 2024.
Mr. Weitzman served as a naval officer from 1988 to 2018 in Command and Staff assignments across the globe, retiring in the grade of Captain. After eight years as a nuclear qualified submarine officer, he became a career Human Resources leader developing a specialty in Operations Research & Analysis. He served as the Director of Manpower & Personnel (N1) at multiple echelons including Numbered Fleet, Force, & Navy Component.
A graduate from Norwich University, the Military College of Vermont, with a degree in Electrical Engineering, he also has a master’s degree in operations research from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Naval War College Diploma from the Command and Staff program.
Mr. Weitzman earned the Senior Human Resource Professional (SPHR) & Certified Performance Technologist (CPT) qualifications. He received the 2007 and 2010 Adm. J.M. Boorda Award for outstanding integration of policy and analysis, the only individual to win this award twice. His military decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Kosovo Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, and various other personal and unit awards.
