Biographies

Master Chief Jorge L. Soto

Command Master Chief, Naval Information Warfare Training Group (NIWTG)

20 September 2020 Command Master Chief Jorge L. Soto enlisted in the United States Navy on June 23, 1993. He completed Recruit Training in Orlando, Florida, and Electronic Warfare Technician Class “A” and “C” school at Naval Technical Training Center Corry Station (NTTCC) Pensacola, Florida. 

His duty assignments at sea include the commissioning crew of the USS Mitscher (DDG 57) and two tours on USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) in Norfolk, Virginia. While on USS Harry S. Truman, he completed 2003, 2005, 2008 and 2010 Arabian Gulf deployments in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn, and Enduring Freedom. He then transferred to Commander, Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 2, where he embarked on USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) and completed a seven-month deployment in support of Operations New Dawn and Enduring Freedom.
 
Ashore he completed tours of duty as a recruiter at Navy Recruiting District New York, Center for Information Dominance Learning Site Norfolk, and Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Norfolk. Additionally, he completed an individual augmentation to Joint Composite Crew Squadron One in Camp Taji, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007. 

Command Master Chief Soto was selected to Master Chief in 2013, and into the Command Master Chief program in 2014, completing the CMC/COB course in September 2014 (Class 141). He completed his first tour as Command Master Chief on USS Oscar Austin (DDG 79) from September 2014 through September 2016 and second tour for Coastal Riverine Squadron (CRS) 4 from September 2016 through June 2018. 

He is a 2014 graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 182/Gray Group). He holds an Associates of Science in liberal studies from Excelsior College.
 
His designations include Enlisted Aviation Warfare, Surface Warfare, and Information Warfare Specialist. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), Army Achievement Medal and various unit and campaign awards.
