Lt. Cmdr. Brian Lee is a native of Osceola, Indiana, and was commissioned from the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at Purdue University. He graduated from Purdue with a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering. 
 
Lt. Cmdr. Lee was commissioned in April of 2008 and began his flight training in Pensacola, Florida. After completing flight school, he earned his wings of gold in December of 2009.
 
Upon completing his training at the Fleet Replacement Squadron (HS) 10, Lt. Cmdr. Lee reported to HS-4 in summer of 2010 where he served as the schedules and readiness officer. During the 2011 Western Pacific deployment, he flew in humanitarian assistance / disaster relief missions in support of Operation Tomodachi providing first response relief to Japan after a 9.0 earthquake and tsunami.
 
After re-designating to information professional, Lt. Cmdr. Lee reported to SPAWAR Space Field Activity (SSFA) at the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) as the laboratory infrastructure branch chief for the communication systems directorate. While at the NRO, he qualified as a mission director for the National Reconnaissance Operations Center where he reported the health and welfare of the nation’s ISR satellites to the director of the NRO. During his time with SSFA, he became a member of the Space Cadre and earned his Information Warfare Officer pin.
 
Lt. Cmdr. Lee then reported to USS Wasp (LHD 1) as the C4I officer where he was responsible for the ship’s networks, communications, and information assurance. During his time onboard he qualified as a tactical action officer and became a member of the Combat Systems Training Team. While in transit to the ship’s new homeport in Sasebo, Japan he was a part of conducting Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) after hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands in 2017.  He completed four Forward Deployed Naval Forces Japan patrols that were hallmarked by introducing the F-35B to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.
 
His awards include the Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (2), Navy Achievement Medal (2), and various unit awards.
