A native of Portland, Maine, Cmdr. Suzanne T. Hubner received her Bachelor’s degree from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 1995 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1999. After completing the Modern Standard Arabic course at the Defense Language Institute, she was commissioned as a cryptologic warfare officer in 2001 through Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Pensacola, Florida. 

Cmdr. Hubner’s first assignment was to Naval Security Group Activity (NSGA) Augusta, Georgia where she served as a watch officer during Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003 to 2005 in support of theater deployed forces. From 2005 to 2008, she was a staff officer for Commander, Naval Forces Europe/ U.S. 6th Fleet in the information operations directorate and the operations officer for the Black Sea/Caspian Sea Regional Planning Team. 

In 2008, Cmdr. Hubner was deployed to Multi National Forces-Iraq as an assessments officer again in the information operations directorate. From 2009 to 2012 she was a member of the Chief of Naval Operations staff, serving first as the executive assistant to N2/N6F, Strategies, Concepts and Integration and later as a desk officer in the International Programs and Engagement office.

Cmdr. Hubner has been forward deployed twice to Japan, as the tactical information warfare officer onboard USS George Washington (CVN 73) from 2012 to 2014 and from 2015-2017 as the cryptologic resource coordinator on the staff of U.S. 7th Fleet.

Most recently she was the team lead for the 600 Combat Mission Team Orange Badgers at Joint Force Headquarters – Cyber Air Force in San Antonio, Texas. 

Currently enrolled at the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy, she was previously awarded a Master of Arts in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College.
