Master Chief Yves Michaud, a native of Miami, Florida, enlisted in the Navy's Delayed Entry Program in November 2000 and completed basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois in November 2001.  He went on to the Defense Language Institute (DLI) at the Presidio of Monterey, where he graduated with honors from CTI "A" School as a Persian-Farsi linguist.

After completing Naval Aircrew Candidate School and SERE training, he reported for his first tour of duty in Naval Security Group Activity (NSGA) Fort Gordon, Georgia to serve in the Fleet Information Operations Center (FIOC) in June 2003. During his first tour, he deployed with Second Radio Battalion as a Haitian-Creole linguist conducting static and mobile collection operations in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in support of Operation Secure Tomorrow. He also qualified as a naval aircrewman.

After detaching NSGA Fort Gordon, he reported to Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Bahrain where he advanced to 2nd class petty officer and qualified as a U.S. 5th Fleet basic operator, senior operator, EP-3E Airborne Mission supervisor, and an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist.  He accrued 1,439 flight hours during 185 missions overland Iraq and in the Arabian Gulf onboard VQ-1/VQ-2 EP-3E and CNO-sponsored P-3C aircraft in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and Maritime Interdiction Operations. He was recognized as NIOC Bahrain's Junior Sailor of the Year for 2006 and selected for the Military Language Analyst Program (MLAP).

In July 2007, he reported to NIOC Maryland as an MLAP intern and was advanced to 1st class petty officer. After qualifying as an adjunct faculty instructor, he assumed the duties as deputy director and NCOIC for the Language Learning Center, responsible for providing critical language training to over 700 students.

In July 2011, he received orders for Navy Information Operations Detachment (NIOD) Jacksonville, Florida to be an airborne mission supervisor and was selected for advancement to chief petty officer. He also served as the training and administration department leading chief petty officer (LCPO). He qualified as an Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist. After a short time onboard, he transferred to NIOD Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii and reported in January 2013. He was selected for advancement to senior chief petty officer. He also served as the senior enlisted leader and assistant officer in charge. In 2017, he graduated as honor student in his Senior Enlisted Academy class.

In February 2018, Master Chief Michaud reported to NIOC Bahrain and served as senior enlisted leader, assistant operations officer, and readiness department LCPO.  In February 2020, he reported for his current assignment as the Cryptologic Warfare Activity (CWA) 65 command senior enlisted leader.


His personal awards include Air Medal (eight awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards).
