Lt. Cmdr. Sean S. Brown

21 September 2020 Lt. Cmdr. Sean S. Brown, a native of Cook County, Georgia, enlisted in the Navy in ​November 1992. He attended recruit training and Radioman Class “A” School in San Diego, California in 1995. Henceforth his enlistment, Lt. Cmdr. Brown has served over 26 honorable years in the Navy.

His enlisted tours include USS Niagra Falls (AFS 3) and USS White Plains (AFS 4) as a seaman apprentice. He completed two deployments aboard USS Underwood (FG 36) the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility. He also served with Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station (NCTAMS) Detachment Rota, Spain as the firewall administrator. Aboard the USS Cowpens (CG 63) he served as the communications leading petty officer, supporting Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He also served at NCTAMS Pacific, where was the Defense Information System Agency (DISA) coordinator for U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM).

Since his commissioning, Lt. Cmdr. Brown has served aboard USS Wasp (LHD 1) as the information systems officer. While assigned to Operational Test and Evaluation Force (OPTEVFOR), he tested communication capabilities being delivered to the fleet as the lead operational test director. As the officer-in-charge of Joint Mobile Ashore Support Terminal CENT (JMAST CENT), he provided critical command, control, planning and intelligence for U.S. Central Command.

Lt. Cmdr. Brown served as directorate of command, control, communications, and computers (C4) while assigned to Amphibious Squadron (PHIBRON) 8. A major accomplishment during his tenure was planning the communication architecture for the evacuation of the American Embassy Yemen during the Houthi Rebellion. Lt. Cmdr. Brown’s operational milestone was aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), as the combat information systems officer.

Lt. Cmdr. Brown achieved a Master of Science in network operations and technology degree from Naval Postgraduate School and a Bachelors in management of information systems from Wayland Baptist University.

Lt. Cmdr. Brown’s personal decorations include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards).​
