Master Chief Petty Officer David T. Campbell

Command Master Chief, Navy Cyber Warfare Development Group (NCWDG)

22 September 2020 Master Chief Petty Officer David T. Campbell, a native of Lansing, Michigan, enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in May 1990. Following completion of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California he reported for duty with “C” Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines, Lansing, Michigan, and served as a combat infantryman (0311) and 60mm mortar man (0341).

He was activated in December 1990 in support of Operation Desert Storm/Shield, and he remained on active duty until September 1991. He continued to serve in the Marine Corps Reserve until March of 1994 when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Following completion of Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command (RTC) Great Lakes, Illinois he was meritoriously promoted to seaman apprentice and reported to Naval Training Center, San Diego where he attended Data Processor (DP) Class “A” School and was subsequently selected for accelerated advancement to 3rd class petty officer. 

Upon graduation, he reported for duty with the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) in Suitland, Maryland, and was assigned to the automated data processing (ADP) division as an ADP equipment operator and technician. His fleet assignments include USS Cardinal (MHC 60), Manama, Bahrain; USS Enterprise (CVN 65), Norfolk, Virginia; and USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) in Norfolk.

Master Chief Campbell’s shore assignments include Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station (NCTS) Sicily, onboard Naval Air Station (NAS) Sigonella, Sicily; Center for Information Dominance, Learning Site Hampton Roads, Norfolk, Virginia; Joint Transformational Command for Intelligence/J2, U.S. Joint Forces Command, Norfolk, Virginia, and Naval Network Warfare Command, Suffolk, Virginia.

In August 2017, Master Chief Campbell reported to his present assignment as the command master chief for Navy Cyber Warfare Development Group (NCWDG) in Washington, D.C.

Master Chief Campbell holds an Associate of Arts degree in liberal arts and Bachelor of Arts degree (cum laude) in business administration with a minor in technology management from Saint Leo University, and a Master of Science degree in management, strategy, and leadership from Michigan State University. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society.

Additionally Master Chief Campbell is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 206 Gold), and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 174). He is qualified as an Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist, Surface Warfare Specialist, Aviation Warfare Specialist, and designated as a Master Training Specialist.

His decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals (2 awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (7 awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and various unit and campaign awards.
