Master Chief Mickey Jones is a native of Oglethorpe, Georgia, and an August 1991 graduate of Recruit Training Command Great Lakes. He completed Engineman “A” school at Naval Training Center Great Lakes. Jones holds Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Management and Technology.
His fleet assignments include USS Orion (AS-18) in La Maddalena, Italy, USS Hunley (AS-31) in Norfolk, Virginia, USS O’Brien (DD-975), USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG-54), USS Thach (FFG-43), USS Gary (FFG-51), and USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63), all in Yokosuka, Japan, Mobile Security Squadron 7 (MSS-71) in Agana, Guam, and USS Essex (LHD-2) and USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) in Sasebo, Japan. Additionally, he completedshore duty assignments at the Naval Leadership/Center for Personal and Professional Development in Kings Bay, Georgia, and Afloat Training Group Western Pacific in Yokosuka, Japan.
He was selected to the Command Master Chief (CMC) program in 2015, His CMC tours include Port Royal (CG-73) in Honolulu, Hawaii, Commander, Destroyer Squadron FIFTEEN Yokosuka, Japan, and Naval Surface Group Western Pacific homeported in Yokosuka, Japan.
He is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (class 185), the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat school (class 141) in Newport, Rhode Island, the Navy Senior Leadership Seminar, and is a Master Training Specialist/Afloat Training Specialist.
Master Chief Jones’s decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
CMDCM Jones is currently serving as the Command Master Chief of Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Pacific, NCTAMS PAC.
