Master Chief Snyder, a native of South America, enlisted in the United States Navy in November 1990. Following completion of Recruit Training in San Diego, Calif., and Air Traffic Controller “C” school in Millington, Tenn., he reported for duty onboard the U.S. Naval Air Station, Bermuda.
In 1996, Master Chief Snyder converted ratings to Data Systems Technician (DS) and served aboard the USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). In 1998, when the Navy closed out the DS rating, he was designated as a Fire Controlman (FC). Subsequent FC assignments include Fleet Combat Training Center Atlantic in Dam Neck, Va.; USS Vella Gulf (CG 72); AEGIS Training and Readiness Center in Dahlgren, Va.; and USS Cowpens (CG 63), where he served as Combat Systems Maintenance Manager and participated in Operation Tomodachi, the U.S. Navy’s response to the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.
He then served as Command Master Chief in USS Mustin (DDG 89) from April 2012 to January 2015; at the Naval Air Facility, Misawa from January 2015 to August 2017; and at Naval Forces Japan / Navy Region Japan from August 2017 to July 2020.
Most recently, in July of 2020, he reported for duty as Command Master Chief at Navy Cyber Warfare Development Group.
Master Chief Snyder is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, class 157, and the Command Master Chief / Chief of the Boat Capstone Course. He has earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Technology Management from Saint Leo University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Troy University. Additionally, Master Chief Snyder is qualified as an Enlisted Surface and Aviation Warfare Specialist, is certified as a Master Training Specialist, and has completed the NAVSEA Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
