Lt. Cmdr. Vanessa Jansen is a native of California, and a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. She holds a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University and was commissioned in 2008 from Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island.
Her first operational tour was with the Screwtops of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 123 which deployed onboard USS Enterprise (CVN-65) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Later in her career, she served as the Assistant Ship’s Intelligence Officer for USS Nimitz (CVN-68).
Her shore tours include United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), Information Warfare Training Command San Diego (IWTC SD), and United States Indo-Pacific Command Joint Intelligence Operations Center (USINDOPACOM JIOC).
At USNORTHCOM she served as a missile analyst, Deputy Collections Chief, and J2 Executive Assistant. Her time at IWTC SD included assignments as an instructor, Deputy Director of Training, and Information Systems Department Head. At USINDOPACOM JIOC she served as a Senior Watch Officer, Director of Operations Senior Watch Supervisor, and Navy Element Executive Officer prior to her transfer to NIOC Pensacola.
Lt. Cmdr. Jansen’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (two awards) and the Navy Commendation Medal (two awards).
