The son of a career Army officer, Capt. Bryan Braswell graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Virginia in 1993 where he was commissioned via the NROTC program and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry and biopsychology.  He assumed duties as Navy Personnel Command’s Information Warfare Community and Foreign Area Officer Distribution Division Director (PERS-47) in August 2020.
 
Capt. Braswell previously served as Commanding Officer of Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Pacific (NCTAMS PAC), and Commander, CTG 1010.3.
 
His most recent Fleet assignment was as Information Warfare Commander for the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) Carrier Strike Group (CSG) TEN, including a seven-month Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf deployment in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
 
Other Fleet tours include service as the Deputy Director of Intelligence and Force Cryptologist on the Staff of Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe; Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Africa; Commander, U.S. 6th Fleet in Naples, Italy; Cryptologic Resource Coordinator on the Staff of Commander, Carrier Strike Group FIVE; Commander, Battle Force 7th Fleet (CTF 70) embarked on board USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) as part of the Forward Deployed Naval Force; and as the Signals Intelligence and Electronic Warfare Officer aboard USS Kinkaid (DD 965).  Capt. Braswell also deployed to Afghanistan for six months in 2009 as Deputy Chief of a USSTRATCOM Non-kinetic Effects Synchronization Team supporting Commander, U.S. Forces Afghanistan and Commander, International Security and Assistance Force.
 
Ashore, he served as an Operations Watch Officer at U.S. Naval Security Group Activity Edzell, Scotland; Lead Engineer in the Advanced Projects Department at the Navy Information Warfare Activity (now Navy Cyber Warfare Development Group); Cyberspace Operations Branch Chief in the Non-kinetic Operations Division (J39) at U.S. Strategic Command; the Electromagnetic and Cyber Warfare Branch Chief on the Chief of Naval Operations staff in the Integrated Fires Directorate (N2N6F3); and the Director of Operations (J3) for the Cyber National Mission Force.
 
He has a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School and was the winner of the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command outstanding thesis award.  While at NPS he was selected for a seven-month Associate Fellowship with the Chief of Naval Operations’ Strategic Studies Group at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island to explore innovative technology applications.  He is a Joint Qualified Officer.
 
His decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, two Legions of Merit, two Defense Meritorious Service Medals, and four Meritorious Service Medals among other personal, campaign, unit, and service awards.
