Information Technician Chief Petty Officer Phillips hails from the Kentucky metro area (Go Cards!). He got off the bus at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois on March 31, 2004. After graduation from IT ‘A” school he checked aboard USS Porter (DDG 78) where he completed two deployments in support of 6
th Fleet and Anti-Piracy Operations. Aboard Porter he served as Communications Leading Petty Officer (LPO), qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, and advanced to Second Class Petty Officer.
In 2009 he checked in to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), MacDill Air Force Base (AFB) where he served as Non-Commissioned Officer-in-Charge of Information Systems Management and General Officer / Flag Officer Desktop Support. At CENTCOM he advanced to IT1 and deployed to Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on four occasions where he served as Operations Center Watch Officer, supporting Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
In 2012 he reported aboard USS Emory S Land (AS 39) as part of 5
th and 7
th Fleet Forward Deployed Naval Forces. He served as Operations Department and Networks Division LPO in support of submarine and surface ship maintenance and repair as well as typhoon relief efforts in the Philippines.
In 2014 he reported to Information Warfare Training Command (IWTC) Keesler AFB, serving as Site Director and instructor for the Spectrum Operations Apprentice and Joint Task Force Spectrum Operations Courses. While at IWTC he qualified as an Information Warfare Specialist and Master Training Specialist.
He joined the crew of USS Tripoli (LHA 7) on June 1
, 2017. In 2018 he was selected, initiated, and accepted into the Chief Petty Officers Mess. He served in multiple roles approximately five years on Tripoli including Communications Leading Chief Petty Officer, Intelligence LCPO, and lead SCI or Sensitive Compartmented Information Networks Administrator.
Chief Phillips joined the team at NCTS Guam on February 10, 2022 where he currently serves as Senior Enlisted Leader.
Chief Phillips holds an AAS in Military Science and Technology from the Community College of the Air Force. He has been awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Achievement Medal (three awards), and various other personal and unit awards.
