Cmdr. Derek Dye, a native of Maryland, was commissioned in 2002 from Officer Candidate School.  Cmdr. Dye reported to Naval Security Group Activity Fort Gordon where he did a range of missions to include deployments to Iraq and subsurface deployments in support of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command.
 
In 2006, Cmdr. Dye reported to USS Lassen (DDG-82) forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan.  While serving as the Information Warfare Officer, he conducted multiple deployments in the Western Pacific as well as completing his Surface Warfare Officer qualifications.
 
After completing his Masters Degree in Computer Science from Naval Postgraduate School in 2011, Cmdr. Dye reported to Navy Information Operations Command Maryland.  Cmdr. Dye was at the forefront of Offensive Cyber Operations, conducting numerous missions as Mission Commander and Operator in support of National priorities and USCYBERCOM.
 
Following Maryland, Cmdr. Dye managed and executed various Electronic Warfare, Cyber, and Information Operations missions while working for Commander Pacific Fleet, in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.  Cmdr. Dye then continued with tactical tours conducting multiple Western Pacific deployments as Deputy Information Warfare Commander, first at CTF-76, Expeditionary Strike Group 7, stationed at White Beach, Okinawa, Japan and embarked on USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6), followed by CTF-70, Carrier Strike Group 5, stationed at Yokosuka, Japan, and embarked on USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76).
 
Prior to his current tour, Cmdr. Dye served as the CSG EUCOM Chief at RAF Molesworth, UK providing intelligence support to EUCOM J2.  Cmdr. Dye currently serves as the Executive Officer for Navy Information Operations Command Georgia with almost 2,000 active and reserve officers, Chief Petty Officers, Sailors, and civilians.
 
He has been awarded various personal and unit awards.
