Cmdr. Eric Weiss

Commanding Officer, Cryptologic Support Activity (CSA) 63

14 February 2023  Commander Eric Weiss is an Ohio native. He attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In 2002, he obtained a Master of Science in Computer Science from Pace University, New York. CDR Weiss commissioned via Officer Candidate School at Naval Air Station, Pensacola on July 18, 2003. Designated Special Duty Officer (Cryptology), he reported to the Navy Cryptologic Officer Basic Course at Corry Station, Pensacola for initial Cryptologic Officer training. 
CDR Weiss has completed numerous sea and overseas assignments, including tours as a Direct Support Officer at Fleet Information Warfare Center Detachment supporting two Expeditionary Strike Groups, Commander SEVENTH Fleet Staff, and I Marine Expeditionary Force Forward; as Lead Information Operations planner at Commander US Naval Central Forces Command; and as the Deputy Information Warfare Commander and Cryptologic Resource Coordinator at Amphibious Squadron ONE. He has made multiple deployments afloat and ashore in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. 
His shore duty assignments have included tours at Navy Information Operations Command Maryland, Navy Cyber Warfare Development Group, Cryptologic Warfare Group SIX, and most recently completed his O5 milestone tour as Team Lead for 506 Combat Mission Team and Commander, Task Group FOUR. CDR Weiss currently serves as the Commanding Officer of Cyber Strike Activity SIXTY THREE. 
Commander Weiss’s awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards) and various unit awards. He is married and has three children.​
