Master Chief Petty Officer Blalock hails from Georgia.  He enlisted in the United States Navy in November 1999 and completed both Recruit Training and Electricians’ Mate “A” School at Naval Training Center Great Lakes in Illinois.  Upon graduation, he reported to his first ship in July 2000.
 
Master Chief Blalock’s sea duty assignments include USS Shreveport (LPD 12), USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19), USS Philippine Sea (CG 58), USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53), and both USS Hopper (DDG 70) and USS Oak Hill (LSD 51) as the Command Master Chief.  He has seen multiple deployments to the Indian Ocean, Arabian Gulf, Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, Red Sea, Philippine Sea, South China Sea, and Sea of Japan with operations and port visits in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
 
In addition, he deployed to the Persian Gulf to support Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom as part of the Wasp Amphibious Readiness Group in 2004.  More recently, he completed more than 150 consecutive days at sea while serving on board the USS Oak Hill (LSD 51) in a deployment during the global pandemic.
 
Ashore, Master Chief served in the outside electrical shop of the Southeast Regional Maintenance Center, Mayport, Fla., and as the Maintenance Master Chief and Senior Enlisted Leader of Southeast Regional Calibration Center, Jacksonville, Fla.  In July 2021, he assumed duties as the Command Master Chief of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
 
Master Chief Blalock is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy, class 191 and CMC / COB Course in Newport, R.I.  He is designated as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist.  He has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), Good Conduct Award (seven awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (two awards), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and numerous unit service and campaign awards.
