Senior Chief Cryptologic Technician (Technical) Matthew L. Richardson enlisted in the United States Navy on June 29, 2000. He completed Recruit Training in Chicago, Ill., and Electronic Warfare Technician Class “A” and “C” school at Naval Technical Training Center Corry Station Pensacola, Fla.
His duty assignments at sea include the USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), and USS Preble (DDG 88) out of Pearl Harbor Hawaii. While on USS John C. Stennis, he completed 2001 and 2004 western pacific deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. In 2005 he deployed with USS Carl Vinson in support of the Global War on Terrorism and homeport shift from Bremerton, Wash. to Norfolk, Va. He completed a back-to-back deployment in 2012 and 2013 aboard USS Dwight D Eisenhower in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In August 2018 he reported to USS Preble (DDG 88) and completed a 7
th Fleet 2019 and 4
th Fleet deployment 2020.
Ashore he completed tours of duty at Navy Information Operations Command Norfolk and Supervisor of Shipbuilding Conversion and Repair, Newport News, Va., as the Combat Systems Test Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. Additionally, he completed an individual augmentation to Joint Special Operations Task Force in Balad, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn in 2009.
He assumed his current duties as Naval Information Warfare Training Group Headquarters Command Senior Enlisted Leader in March of 2022.
He is a 2018 graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 214 / Gray Group).
His designations include Enlisted Aviation Warfare, Surface Warfare and Information Warfare Specialist. His personal awards include the Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
