Cmdr. Adam Humphrey

Commanding Officer, Cyber Strike Activity SIXTY THREE

26 June 2023 Cmdr. Humphrey is a Colorado native and enlisted in the Navy in 1995. He was a prior Gunner’s Mate onboard USS LEFTWICH (DD 984) and USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG 60), later cross-rating to Cryptologic Technician (Collection) where he served as a Chief Petty Officer. He was commissioned via the Seaman to Admiral-21 program at the University of Arizona in Tucson Arizona, graduating in December 2004. In 2019 he earned a Master of Science in Cyber Systems and Operations from Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California.
Afloat, his first assignment as a Surface Warfare Officer was First Lieutenant in MHC CREW LOYALTY embarked in USS BLACK HAWK (MHC 58), USS CARDINAL (MHC 60), USS SHRIKE (MHC 62) and USS PELICAN (MHC 53) and as Navigator in USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG 57). He was then selected for lateral transfer to Cryptologic Warfare Officer. His first sea duty assignment as a CW Officer was at NIOC San Diego where he deployed as an Individual Augmentee (IA) to JTF-GUANTANAMO BAY. Six months after returning from IA, he was assigned as Information Operations Detachment OIC to Commander, Amphibious Squadron THREE, PELELIU AMPHIBIOUS READY GROUP (PELARG) with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, deploying in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Humphrey’s next afloat tour was as the Deputy N2, Deputy Information Warfare Commander and Cryptologic Resource Coordinator on the staff of the world’s largest 13 ship naval strike group at Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group THREE.
Ashore, he served on staff of Commander, U.S. THIRD Fleet as the Cyber Operations Officer and Special Technical Operations Planner in the N39/IO Cell and Executive Officer at Information Warfare Training Group - Gulfport, Mississippi. 
His last assignment was Deputy Director of Intelligence and Fleet Cryptologist for U.S. SIXTH Fleet; Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO; and U.S. Naval Forces Europe/Africa in July 2021. CDR Humphrey currently serves as Commanding Officer, Cyber Strike Activity SIXTY THREE.
He was a recipient of the 2011 Copernicus Award recognizing outstanding achievement in Information Warfare.
