Cmdr. Shawn Teasley is a native of Pennsylvania.  He is a graduate of John A. Brashear H. S. in Pittsburgh, Pa., Class of 88.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy Sept. 26, 1990 through the Advance Electronic Field program as a Cryptologic Maintenance Technician (CTM).  Upon completion of CTM “A” school he was advanced to the rank of Third Class Petty Officer.  
 
He then preceded to his first duty station in Norfolk, Va., Atlantic Intelligence Command (AIC / SPINTCOM) in December 1991.  During this tour he served as Maintenance Tech Control support and spearheaded the integration and installation of numerous new networks and systems.  He was advanced to the rank of Second Class Petty Officer in December 1993. 
 
His next tour of duty was independent duty on board USS Chancellorsville (CG-62) from April 1994 to June 1997.  He was Command Advanced to First Class Petty Officer in January 1997. 
 
He transferred June 1997 to Naval Security Group Activity (NSGA) Norfolk, Va., as Direct Support personnel.  While there he served as LPO for Systems Acquisitions, SSQ-99 Cryptologic Vans and training.  He also completed numerous small deployments on a variety of ships in the Norfolk area. 
 
He then transferred to Commander Amphibious Group TWO and worked as the Assistant Staff Cryptologist.  During this tour he was selected for the rank of Chief Petty Officer and subsequently commissioned to the rank of Ensign through the LDO / CWO Program Feb. 3, 2003.  He reported to Kunia Regional Security Operations Center (KRSOC) Hawaii where he began his tour as the Deputy Director of Personnel and Physical Security for more than 1,100 multi-service personnel, completed a successful three-month TAD deployment on board USS Blueridge (LCC-19), Yokusuka, Japan, and returned to NIOC Hawaii to qualify as a Deputy Senior Watch Officer for his final year on board. 
 
He then transferred to the USS Bataan (LHD-5) where he completed a successful tour as the Ship’s Signals Intelligence Officer, and qualified as Combat Information Center Watch Officers (CICWO) during Bataan deployment 2007.
 
While stationed at NETWARCOM / Navy Cyber Forces Command (September 2008 through October 2011) he volunteered for a one-year Individual Augmentation to Bahrain from July 2010 through September 2011 as the ESG5 staff IO planner. He also qualified as an ESG5 Battle Watch Captain and completed a BS through Wayland Baptist University. 
 
He then transferred to Navy Information Operations Command, Norfolk Va.  There he served as an Information Operations Planner, and Special Technical Operations Department head. He was hand selected to build and implement the Navy’s First Service Level Cyber Protection Teams (CPT), Navy Cyber Unit ELEVEN and SIXTEEN.  He served as a Department Head, completed his Master’s degree from Grantham University, majoring in Information Systems Technology Management and qualified as a Master Training Specialist at Center for Information Warfare and Training (CIWT) Dam Neck, Va., from 2015 through 2017. 
 
He completed his O4 Milestone as the Cryptologic Resource Coordinator at Commander Carrier Strike Group FOUR (CSG4) from 2017 through 2019, completed his Command level qualification and was subsequently promoted to Commander in August 2019.  He completed a successful O5 Milestone as the Deputy Chief of PMG at NSA Hawaii and served as the Director of N2, NIOC Hawaii from August 2019 through July 2021.    
 
Upon his transfer to Joint Intelligence Operations Center, Hawaii, he was selected to fill the position of Navy Element Commanding Officer, as well as Branch Chief of Cyber Analysis Group.  In May 2023 he was selected to the rank of Captain. 
 
Cmdr. Teasley is currently Deputy Commander CTF-1070 and Executive Officer for NIOC Hawaii.
 
His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Award (two awards), Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (nine awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other service awards.
