After graduation, he attended the University of St. Thomas (St. Paul, MN) and the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Minnesota. Cmdr. Graewert graduated in 2003 with a bachelors degree in computer science and was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy.
Cmdr. Graewert served in a variety of assignments. In 2004, he reported aboard NSGA COLORADO. He qualified as a Cryptologist and as a Senior Watch Officer, conducting worldwide operations in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Upon completion of a successful sea tour, Cmdr. Graewert reported to the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Monterey, CA. He graduated with a Masters Degree of Information Warfare Systems Engineering. He led and deployed Canadian based U.S. Sailors and Canadian Expeditionary Forces until his departure in November 2013. Cmdr. He led the Navy Tactical Data Network Limited Objective experiment, demonstrating the first operationally deployed, enterprise enabled, tailored Signals Intelligence system of its kind on a U.S. Navy Surface Combatant. His innovation and transitive solutions established the evolutionary step of tactical platform enablement through distributed signals intelligence operations and NSA enterprise services. In the summer of 2017, Cmdr. Graewert reported to Cryptologic Warfare Activity Six as the deputy directorate head for Analysis and Production. He successfully stood up Cryptologic Warfare Activity Sixty-Five and then assumed the role Operations Officer.
