Commander Eric Graewert entered the Navy as a Cryptologic Technician (Collections) in 1997 and deployed in 1998 on USS OLDENDORF (DD-972) in support of Operation DESERTFOX. In 1999, Cmdr. Graewert was selected into the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training program in Newport, RI, where he was advanced to Second Class Petty Officer. After graduation, he attended the University of St. Thomas (St. Paul, MN) and the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Minnesota. Cmdr. Graewert graduated in 2003 with a bachelors degree in computer science and was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy.

Cmdr. Graewert served in a variety of assignments. In 2004, he reported aboard NSGA COLORADO. He qualified as a Cryptologist and as a Senior Watch Officer, conducting worldwide operations in support of the Global War on Terrorism. In May 2006, he reported aboard the USS MUSTIN (DDG 89) as the Signals Information Warfare Officer and Electronic Warfare Officer, located in Yokosuka, Japan. Cmdr. Graewert qualified as a Surface Warfare Officer and Officer of the Deck while participating in an array of international exercises and operations: Counter Special Operation Exercises (CSOFEX), FOAL EAGLE, MALABAR 07-1/2, VALIANT SHIELD, ANNUALEX 07/08, LIMA 07, BALIKATAN 08, and OPERATION CARING RESPONSE. Upon completion of a successful sea tour, Cmdr. Graewert reported to the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Monterey, CA. He graduated with a Masters Degree of Information Warfare Systems Engineering. His thesis proved a GPS dependent SIGINT system can operate effectively in a GPS denied environment. In October 2010, Cmdr. Graewert reported to the Personnel Exchange Program, Ottawa Canada, where he served as the Canadian Forces Information Operations Headquarters Deputy Operations Officer. He led and deployed Canadian based U.S. Sailors and Canadian Expeditionary Forces until his departure in November 2013. Cmdr. Graewert reported to Fleet Cyber Command Tenth Fleet during December 2013, where he was assigned to the SIGINT/CYBER mission systems division, Communications Directorate. He led the Navy Tactical Data Network Limited Objective experiment, demonstrating the first operationally deployed, enterprise enabled, tailored Signals Intelligence system of its kind on a U.S. Navy Surface Combatant. His innovation and transitive solutions established the evolutionary step of tactical platform enablement through distributed signals intelligence operations and NSA enterprise services. In the summer of 2017, Cmdr. Graewert reported to Cryptologic Warfare Activity Six as the deputy directorate head for Analysis and Production. He successfully stood up Cryptologic Warfare Activity Sixty-Five and then assumed the role Operations Officer. Cmdr. Graewert returned to Fleet Cyber Command in August 2019 and served as the Deputy Director of the Joint Force Headquarters Cyber Navy and as the Deputy Chief of Fires for TENTH Fleet before being rotating to the Cyber National Mission Force to serve as the JOINT TASK FORCE TWO Commander.
