A native of Georgia, Lt. Cmdr. Mark Veazey attended the United States Naval Academy as a member of the class of 2011.  During his time at the Academy, Lt. Cmdr. Veazey majored in Information Technology and was selected as a Surface Warfare Officer (IP Option) upon commissioning.    
                         
Afloat, Lt. Cmdr. Veazey served aboard the USS Simpson (FFG-56) as the Communications Officer and EKMS Manager.  He completed one deployment to West Africa and the Mediterranean in support of FIRESCOUT anti-terrorism and anti-piracy missions.  He then fleeted up as the Navigation Officer on board Simpson and completed two more deployments to North Africa and East Africa completing anti-terrorism and anti-piracy missions.  Lt. Cmdr. Veazey earned his Officer of the Deck and Surface Warfare Officer qualifications.

Ashore, Lt. Cmdr. Veazey served as the Plans and Exercises Officer as well as Deskside Support Department Head for DIA DET PACOM in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.  Lt. Cmdr. Veazey earned his IP Basic qualification, IWO qualification, and Certified Information Systems Security Professional Certification during this tour.  He also attended the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, Calif., and graduated with a master’s degree in computer science.  While assigned to NPS, he earned the IP Intermediate qualification.  Upon graduation, Lt. Cmdr. Veazey served at U.S. Naval Forces Europe / U.S. Naval Forces Africa / SIXTHFLT, in the N65 department in charge of exercises, plans, and requirements.  For his 04 milestone tour, Lt. Cmdr. Veazey reported to NCTAMS LANT where he served as the Communications Officer.  Lt. Cmdr. Veazey is currently the Officer in Charge of NCTAMS LANT DET Jacksonville.

Lt. Cmdr. Veazey’s personal awards include the Joint Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various campaign and service awards.
