Lt. Cmdr. Kyle R. Kausch

Lt. Cmdr. Kausch, a native of Michigan, graduated in 2013 from Boston College with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Geoscience and was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Program. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program in 2021 with a Master of Science in Physical Oceanography.
Originally a Student Naval Aviator at Training Air Wing Five, he redesignated to the meteorology and oceanography (METOC) community in 2014. Afloat, Lt. Cmdr. Kausch completed a division officer tour as a military hydrographer at Fleet Survey Team (FST), deploying onboard USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43) and USS Ashland (LSD 48). He then served as officer in charge at Naval Oceanography Special Warfare Detachment (NOSWD-PH) supporting SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team 1. He returned to sea as the METOC Officer Afloat onboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). During his sea tours he deployed to the 5
th, 6
th, and 7
th Fleet Areas of Operations, and led deployable units providing global METOC and unmanned systems support.
Ashore, Lt. Cmdr. Kausch served as the Readiness and Training Department Head at Fleet Weather Center San Diego. He is currently Executive Officer of Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station (NCTS) Hampton Roads.
His personal awards and decorations include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various campaign and service medals.
