Chief Information Systems Technician Austin Tushaus

Chief Tushaus was born in Missouri and enlisted into the Navy in March 2010. He was hand-selected to attend the pilot programs for new Information Systems Technician “A” and “C” Schools in Pensacola, Fla.
His initial assignment was to Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command, Virginia Beach, Va., from 2011 through 2013. During his transition to his next tour, he attended the Global Command and Control System-Maritime (GCCS-M) “C” School. His next tour was USS Cape St. George from 2013 through 2017.
He then reported to Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) San Diego in February 2017, and shortly after attend the Advanced Network Analyst “C” School. NIOC San Diego disestablished and Navy Blue Team, his assigned department, was established as a Detachment under Navy Network Warfare Command. With Blue Team, he was the Leading Petty Officer for the Continuous Monitoring Analytics Division.
He was then stationed on board USS Howard in 2020 and was selected to Chief Petty Officer November 2020. While on board he served as Combat Systems Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer, CC Division LCPO, and ISSM. During his tour, USS Howard conducted a homeport shift to Yokosuka, Japan.
ITC is currently serving as the Senior Enlisted Leader for NAVCOMTELSTA Far East Detachment Atsugi, Japan since April 2023. Chief Tushaus is authorized to wear the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), and various service and campaign awards.
