Cmdr. Andrew Johnson is a native of Maryland. He commissioned from Officer Candidate School in Newport, R.I. as a Surface Warfare Officer in March 2010 and later re-designated to Information Professional in 2012.
His sea service includes successful tours as Flag Communications Officer, Commander Carrier Strike Group EIGHT, embarked aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), and deployed during the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. Aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), he served as the Information Systems Security Manager, Network Security Division Officer, Automated Data Processing Division Officer, and Cyber Security Workforce Program Manager, as well as deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Aboard USS Cole (DDG 67), he served as the Repair Officer, Damage Control Assistant, and First Lieutenant, and deployed in support of Operation Ocean Shield, Operation Active Endeavor, and Operation Enduring Freedom.
His shore assignments include Command Information Systems Officer at Fleet Cyber Command – 10
th Fleet, and Contracting Officer Technical Representative and Branch Chief at NAVWAR Space Field Activity.
Cmdr. Johnson successfully screened for a Leadership Billet and assumed the duties and responsibilities as Officer-in-Charge of NCTAMS PAC Detachment Puget Sound on 15 November 2022.
Cmdr. Johnson is a graduate of Salisbury University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Information Systems and earned his Masters of Professional Studies in Cyberspace Security from University of Maryland Baltimore County. He is qualified Information Warfare, Surface Warfare, Space Cadre, and is a Warfare Tactics Instructor for Command and Control / Cyberspace Operations.
Cmdr. Johnson’s military awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various unit awards, service medals and ribbons.
