Cmdr. Mark Turner is a native of California. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2006 and became a Cryptologic Warfare Officer in 2008. He holds a B.S. in Political Science from the US Naval Academy, a M.S. in Information Technology Management from TUI, and a M.S. in Computer Science from the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS).
Cmdr. Turner’s afloat assignments include Cryptologic Support Team 16 Officer-in-Charge (Basrah, Iraq); USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) as the Ship Information Warfare Officer and the Electronic Warfare Officer; Joint Special Operations Command as the Joint SIGINT Targeting and Exploitation and PAI Troop Commander; and Carrier Task Force 70 as the Integrated Fires Officer and the Deputy Information Warfare Commander (Yokosuka, Japan).
Cmdr. Turner’s ashore assignments include Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Texas; NPS in Monterey; NIOC Maryland, NCTS San Diego as the XO and Deputy Commander of Task Force 1010.3.2; and Cryptologic of Warfare Activity 65. Cmdr. Turner’s most recent tour was at Naval Information Forces (NAVIFOR) as the Forces Liaison Naval Officer to Fleet Cyber Command NAVIFOR.
Cmdr. Turner’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), the Joint Commendation Service Medal with “C” Device, the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), and various other unit and service medals. He is qualified as an Information Warfare Officer and Naval Parachutist (gold).
