Master Chief Murray is originally from New York and graduated in 2002. He joined the Navy shortly after high school in July 2002.
After he attended Electronics Technician A school and RADIAC C school in Great Lakes, Ill., he reported to his first ship, USS Frank Cable (AS-40) in Guam. There he served as the Work Center Supervisor of the RADIAC Calibration Laboratory on board.
After Guam, he reported to Navy Submarine Support Facility New London Conn., where he continued his time in the RADIAC field. In 2010, then ET2 Murray was nearly PTS’d out of the Navy due to his NEC being phased out. He requested to be re-rated to a CTM, and in early 2011 he was force converted.
As a fresh new CTM1, he reported to Navy Information Operations Detachment Groton for his Submarine Direct Support tour. He served six years in Groton, qualifying as Maintenance Supervisor and Team Leader, Submarines and EIWS, then became the Operations LPO. In 2016, he was selected as Chief Petty Officer and stayed at NIOD Groton to serve as the Maintenance Shop LCPO.
In 2017, Chief Murray reported to Cryptologic Warfare Maritime Activity Sixty-One at Fort Meade, Md., in the Special Projects Office. There he made two deployments supporting various U.S. Fleet ships and was selected for Senior Chief Petty Officer. In 2019, he was redistributed to Cryptologic Warfare Activity SIX SEVEN and served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for more than 420 Sailors. At the end of his tour, he was selected for Master Chief Petty Officer.
In June 2022, Master Chief Murray reported to NAVIFOR, as the N1 Manpower, Manning, and Personnel Readiness DLCPO and CTM Rating Lead. In addition to those duties, he served as the EIWS Program Manager for the Navy. Following this tour he reported to his current duty station at Navy Information Operations Detachment, Groton as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.
Master Chief Murray is authorized to wear the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy Achievement Medal (five awards), and various unit and campaign awards. He is qualified as an Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Submarines.
