Lt. William B. Damron

Lt. Damron is a native of Tennessee and enlisted in the United States Navy in 2007. He completed his Recruit Training at RTC Great Lakes and reported to “FT-A” school in Groton, Conn. After graduating, he reported to the USS Norfolk (SSN-714), where he qualified as Fire Control Technician of the Watch, went on two CENTCOM Deployments, and was promoted to Petty Officer Second Class.
In 2013, he cross-rated to become an Information Systems Technician Submarines and reported to “ITS-C” school at Naval Submarine Base in Groton, Conn. Upon graduation he was assigned to the USS Springfield (SSN-761), where he completed a EUCOM deployment, and was promoted to First Class Petty Officer. In 2016, he reported to Naval Submarine Support Facility in Groton, Conn., where he served as the Leading Petty Officer for the LAN and Electronics Divisions.
In 2018 he graduated from Thomas Edison State University with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Lt. Damron received his commission via Officer Candidate School in 2019. Upon completion of Basic Oceanographic Accession Training in 2020, he reported to Naval Ocean Processing Facility in Naval Air Station Whidbey Island and served as a Tactical Watch Officer from 2020 to 2023. Lt. Damron then reported to Strike Group Oceanography Team San Diego, where he participated in the Resolute Hunter 23-2 Joint-Coalition Exercise and served as the Training Officer and Facilities Officer from February 2023 to January 2025. In February 2025, Lt. Damron reported to Navy Information Operations Detachment, Groton, Conn., to assume the role of Assistant Officer In Charge.
Lt. Damron has been awarded the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal (seven awards), Good Conduct Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
