Capt. Robert (Brian) Conner, a native of Alabama, enlisted into the Navy in 1996 as an Electronics Technician.  He is a graduate of the BOOST program and earned his commission in May 2004 through NROTC Unit Hampton Roads at Old Dominion University.  He was designated a Surface Warfare Officer in 2005 and transferred to Information Professional community in 2006.                                       

His education includes a bachelor’s degree in communications from Old Dominion University, and a master’s in information technology management from the Naval Postgraduate School.  He is also a graduate of the Joint Forces Staff College.

Operationally, he served as Repair Officer, USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19); Information Systems Security Manager; USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) homeported in Yokosuka, Japan; Combat Systems Officer; USS Independence (LCS 2); Director of Assured Command and Control (N6); and Commander Carrier Strike Group TWELVE (CSG 12) with the Abraham Lincoln and Gerald R. Ford Strike Groups.

Ashore operational assignments include Commanding Officer, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Hampton Roads; Space and Cyber Operations Planner, Global Satellite Communications Support Center; and Cyber Warning Operations Center Chief, NORAD and U.S. Northern Command.  Staff assignments include Deputy Executive Assistant, Commander, U.S. Fleet Cyber Command / U.S. 10^th Fleet and Senior IP Detailer (PERS 471), Navy Personnel Command.

Conner's personal decorations include: the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and other unit and service awards throughout his career.  He is qualified Information Warfare Officer, Surface Warfare Officer, and Joint Duty Qualified Officer.
