Capt. Brian A. Evans

Capt. Evans, a native of Virginia, received his commission from the United States Naval Academy in 2003. Following graduation, Capt. Evans completed nuclear training in Charleston, S.C., before reporting to USS Honolulu (SSN 718) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Following his tour on USS Honolulu, Capt. Evans reported to the Submarine Learning Facility in Norfolk, Va., as the Engineer Officer and as a Prospective Nuclear Engineering Officer instructor.
Following his assignment in Norfolk, Capt. Evans laterally transferred to the Information Warfare (IW) Community. His first IW assignment at the OPNAV Information Warfare Directorate (N2/N6) as the Navy Narrowband Satellite Communications Requirements Officer. While at OPNAV, Capt. Evans was selected for a Chief of Naval Operations pilot graduate education program at Carnegie Mellon University. After earning his degree from Carnegie Mellon, Capt. Evans reported to Carrier Strike Group (CSG) TWELVE as the Flag Communications and Space Operations Officer. Following his CSG tour, Capt. Evans served as the Deputy Executive Assistant to the Deputy CNO for Information Warfare (OPNAV N2 / N6). After his Deputy Executive Assistant assignment, Capt. Evans reported for Joint duty at U.S. Cyber Command, serving as Global Defensive Cyberspace Operations lead in the Future Operations Division (J35) and as the Navy Element Executive Officer. Following completion of his Joint tour, Capt. Evans reported to Naval Force Europe / Naval Forces Africa / U.S. 6
th Fleet as the Deputy Director, C4 / Cyber (N6A).
Capt. Evans next assignment was as commanding officer, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station, Sicily and commander, U.S. 10
th Fleet Task Unit 1010.6.1. Following his command tour, he reported to Fort Meade, Md., as the Deputy Maritime Operations Center Director for Fleet Cyber Command / Navy Space Command / U.S. 10
th Fleet. After his tour at Fort Meade, Capt. Evans served as the Information Warfare Commander for Carrier Strike Group EIGHT. After completing a combat deployment with Carrier Strike Group EIGHT, Capt. Evans assumed his current duties as commanding officer, Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command and commander, U.S. 10
th Fleet Task Force 1020.
Capt. Evans holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the United States Naval Academy, a Master of Science in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Information Technology Strategy from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Master of Arts from the Naval War College. He is also a graduate of the Joint and Combined Warfighting School at the Joint Forces Staff College. Capt. Evans is a designated Joint Qualified Officer, a member of Navy’s Space Cadre community, and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
