Master Chief Petty Officer Yaung began his enlisted naval career in San Francisco, California, in November 2003. After completing basic training at Great Lake, Chicago, he attended Culinary Specialist "A" School at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. He was initiated to Chief Petty Officer in 2015. Master Chief Yaung holds a master’s in human resources management from the
University of Denver and is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class (222 Green).  Master Chief was selected into the Command Senior Enlisted Program in 2025.

Sea tours include USS Fort McHenry (LSD-43), USS Tortuga (LSD-46), USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) homeport in San Diego and returned to USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76), the Navy's only forward deployed aircraft carrier, and USS Kearsarge (LHD-3). He deployed to the U.S. 5th fleet area of operation for Operation Allies Refuge and several deployments in the Western Pacific as part of U.S. 7th fleet.

Ashore his in-rate assignments include the staff of the 75th Secretary of the Navy, Enlisted Aide
for the Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, U.S. 5th Fleet and Combined Maritime Forces, Manama, Bahrain.

At joint services, as senior Enlisted Aide to the Commander, NATO Special Operations Headquarters, Mons, Belgium, and Component Commander, U.S. Southern Command, Doral, FL.

Master Chief Yaung is authorized to wear numerous personal awards. He is Enlisted Surface,
and Information Warfare qualified.
