Lt. Jason Martz is a native of California.  He enlisted in the Navy in 2005 as a Cryptologic Technician (Technical) (CTT), and in 2017 was commissioned as a Cryptologic Warfare Limited Duty Officer (LDO).  He completed his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management from Columbia Southern University in 2013 and earned his Master of Business Administration in 2024.

His operational tours include USS Ralph Johnson (DDG 114) where he served as the Information Warfare Officer (IWO) during a U.S. 5th Fleet and U.S. 7th Fleet deployment with the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group under COVID-19 restrictions and subsequent homeport shift to Yokosuka, Japan.

He served ashore at Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC), Texas as a Division Officer and as the Enterprise Discovery Operations Group Operations Officer at the National Security Agency / Central Security Service, Texas.  He also served as the Site Director of Information Warfare Training Command San Diego, Site PACNORWEST in Everett, Wash.

His enlisted commands included USS Gridley (DDG 101), Naval Air Technical Training Center, Commander, Carrier Strike Group Eleven, and NIOC San Diego.  In June of 2025, he assumed the duties as the Officer In Charge of Information Warfare Training Detachment - Everett.  He is responsible for advancing Information Warfare (IW) readiness by executing operationally-focused IW training and assessment within the Pacific Northwest.

Lt. Martz is authorized to wear the Information Warfare Officer, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, and the Master Training Specialist designations.  His personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), Good Conduct Medal (three awards), Humanitarian Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and various unit and service awards.
