Capt. Ron J. Arellano

Capt. Arellano received a commission as an Ensign at the U.S. Naval Academy in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He obtained an Executive Master of Business Administration from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2009. Prior to his redesignation as a Maritime Cyber Warfare Officer in 2023, he served as a Submarine Warfare Officer and a Cryptologic Warfare Officer.
Operational tours include duty on board USS West Virginia (SSBN 736) (GOLD) during five strategic deterrent patrols; at Naval Special Warfare Group One, which included deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom; at the Joint Cyber Operations Group as Executive Officer, which included a deployment in support of Operations Freedom’s Shield and Freedom’s Sentinel; at U.S. 3
rd Fleet; at the Joint Cyber Operations Group as a Squadron Commanding Officer; at U.S. Central Command representing the National Security Agency / Central Security Service; and most recently at U.S. Indo-Pacific Command representing U.S. Cyber Command.
Support tours include duty at the Navy Cryptologic Warfare Development Group and at the Navy Information Warfare Training Group – San Diego as Executive Officer.
Capt. Arellano’s personal awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (with Gold Star), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with Gold Star), and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with Gold Star).
