Cmdr. Baker is a native of Wisconsin. He enlisted in the Navy on June 12, 2000, and completed Basic Training and Seaman Apprentice Training in Great Lakes, Ill.
Cmdr. Baker’s enlisted tours include USS Constellation (CV 64), Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Atlantic, and Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
He was honor graduate of his Information Systems Technician class in 2003 and his Navy Diver class in 2007. He held the rank of Navy Diver First Class (ND1) and qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist, Underwater Ship’s Husbandry Specialist, and Diving Salvage Warfare Specialist before being commissioned through Officer Candidate School (OCS) as an Information Professional (IP) in 2010.
Cmdr. Baker’s operational tours include USS Bataan (LHD 5) as the Automated Data Processing Officer (ADPO) and Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) from 2012 to 2014; USS George Washington (CVN 73) as the ADPO and ISSM from 2017 to 2019; Maritime Expeditionary Security Group TWO as the N6 from 2019 to 2022; and Pre-Commissioning Unit John F. Kennedy (CVN 79) as the Combat Systems Officer from 2024 to 2025.
Cmdr. Baker’s shore tours include Naval Network Warfare Command as Battle Watch Captain from 2010 to 2012 where he qualified as an Information Warfare Officer, National Reconnaissance Office as Deputy Chief of the Commercial Cloud Division and Cybersecurity Operations Center from 2014 to 2017; and Office of the Chief of Naval Operations as N80’s IP / 1820 Information Warfare Budget Analyst from 2022 to 2024.
Cmdr. Baker currently serves as the Executive Officer of Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Naples, Italy.
He has a bachelor’s degree in computer and information science, a bachelor’s in psychology, a master’s in Cloud Computing Architecture, and maintains the Global Information Assurance Security Leadership Certification. He is authorized to wear the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), and various unit awards and citations.
