Cmdr. Adler, a native of Florida, is a 2008 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology. He commissioned as an Information Professional officer under the Surface Warfare – Information Warfare Community option program. In 2016, he earned a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the Naval Postgraduate School.
His operational tours include serving as the Combat Information Center, Communications, and Auxiliaries officer on board USS Benfold (DDG 65); Combat Information Systems Officer and Information Systems Security Manager on board USS Essex (LHD 2); and Flag Communications Officer for Commander, Carrier Strike Group ELEVEN, completing a ten-month deployment on board USS Nimitz (CVN 68) supporting Operations Inherent Resolve, Freedom’s Sentinel, and Octave Quartz in the U.S. 3
rd, 5
th, 6
th and 7
th Fleet areas of responsibility.
Ashore, Adler served as a Battle Watch Captain and Cybersecurity Inspection Action Officer at Commander, U.S. Fleet Cyber Command / U.S. 10
th Fleet; as an instructor for the Information Warfare and Information Professional Basic Courses at Information Warfare Training Command Virginia Beach; as Executive Officer at Information Warfare Training Command San Diego; and as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, and Intelligence at U.S. 3
rd Fleet. His previous assignment was as the Deputy Executive Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Information Warfare (OPNAV N2N6) and Director of Naval Intelligence.
Adler is a qualified Master Training Specialist and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium. In addition to various campaign, service, and unit awards, Adler’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards).
