A native of Maryland, Cmdr. Patrick W. Jones enlisted in the United States Navy in 2003 as an Information Systems Technician (IT). He earned an appointment to the United States Naval Academy and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineer in 2010. He holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School and a graduate certificate from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
Operationally, Cmdr. Jones has served with the USS Harry S Truman (CVN-75) as an IT, USS Kearsarge (LHD-3) as the Information Systems Officer, Carrier Strike Group TWELVE as the Flag Communications Officer, Joint Special Operations Command’s Joint Communications Unit as the Deputy Commander, and with a Joint Interagency Task Force as the Chief of Staff.
Ashore, he has served with Naval Network Warfare Command as a Battle Watch Captain, Special Operations Command Korea as the Deputy Director SOJ6, the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s Secretary of Defense Communications as an Executive Support Officer, and Fleet Cyber Command / Commander 10
th Fleet’s Deputy Director N6.
His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards). He is a designated Information Warfare Officer, a Joint Qualified Officer, and a member of the Navy’s Space Cadre.
