Capt. Walter “Karl” Pauli III

Capt. Karl Pauli, is a native of Leominster, Mass. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science in 2003. He earned a Master of Arts in Diplomacy from Norwich University.
Pauli’s operational assignments included Deputy Commander at Joint Special Operations Command Intelligence Brigade in support of Joint Special Operations Task Forces worldwide; Intelligence Officer for Amphibious Squadron FOUR embarked on board USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) supporting Operation Inherent Resolve; and Intelligence Division Officer on board USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
His ashore assignments were Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence and Information Operations, U.S. 3
rd Fleet; Commanding Officer, Cryptologic Warfare Maritime Activity-61; Intelligence Junior Officer Detailer at Navy Personnel Command; Senior Intelligence Watch Officer and Partnership, Strength, and Presence Chief at Naval Forces Central Command; and J2 Executive Assistant, Executive Support Team Chief, China Watch Officer at U.S. Pacific Command and Executive Assistant to Commander, Naval Information Forces Suffolk, Va.
Capt. Pauli currently serves as the Deputy Commander, Information Warfare Squadron NINE, and Deputy Information Warfare Commander, Theodore Roosevelt Strike Group.
Capt. Pauli’s personal awards include the Rear Adm. Edwin T. Layton Award for Leadership and Mentorship, Thomas Knowlton Award, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Navy Achievement Medal.
