A native of Pennsylvania, Capt. Matt Myers commissioned in 2004 through Officer Candidate School at Naval Air Station Pensacola and was designated an Intelligence Officer after graduation from the Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center in Dam Neck, Va.
At sea, Capt. Myers has served as Air Intelligence Officer for the “Dambusters” of Strike Fighter Squadron 195 aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63), as Intelligence and Information Systems Department Head (N2N6) for the “Badmen” of Carrier Air Wing FIVE aboard USS George Washington (CVN-73) and USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76), as Intelligence Operations Officer for U.S. Sixth Fleet aboard USS Mount Whitney (LCC-20), as Task Force Seven Zero (CTF-70) Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence (N2) aboard USS Ronald Reagan, and as Information Warfare Commander for Amphibious Squadron ELEVEN aboard USS America (LHA 6) and USS Tripoli (LHA 7).
Ashore, Commander Myers served as a Strategic Debriefer at the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Field Operating Base-Korea, as N2N39 Special Programs Officer for U.S. Pacific Fleet, as Chief of Analysis and Production for U.S. Naval Forces Europe / Africa, and as Assistant U.S. Naval AttachĂ© to India. He reported to U.S. Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Naples, Italy, in March of 2026.
Capt. Myers holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Dartmouth College and a Master of Arts in in History from Jawaharlal Nehru University, in New Delhi. While attending JNU as a Class of 2009 Olmsted Scholar, he completed the Navy War College’s Joint Professional Military Education (Phase I) and was designated an Asia Pacific Hand.
His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and Navy Commendation Medal. In his spare time, he enjoys jazz and classical music, cooking, photography, cycling, and vintage automobiles.
