A native of Pennsylvania, Cmdr. Elias George joined the Navy in 2005 through the Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate Program and completed Officer Indoctrination School in Newport, R.I. He holds a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and a Masters of Nuclear Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.
He was initially a Nuclear Power Instructor and Information Systems Department Head at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command before laterally transferring to Cryptologic Warfare in 2009.
His cryptologic operational tours include the Navy Information Operations Command Georgia, Navy Information Operations Command Maryland, and the Naval Special Warfare Development Group.
He served on the staffs of U.S. Cyber Command, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command / 5th Fleet - Bahrain, and U.S. Fleet Cyber Command / Navy Space Command. Additionally, he served as Executive Officer at the Joint Typhoon Warning Center, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Cmdr. George’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (seven awards), and various other unit and service medals. He is qualified as an Information Warfare Officer.
