Bryan Braswell, Commander, Naval Information Warfighting Development Center, is briefed by Mr. Jake Thompson, Training Officer, NIWTG-G, on the mission and capabilities of the Maritime Robotics Otter. The Otter is an Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV), an easily deployable turn-key system for seabed and shoreline mapping using its onboard bathymetric SONAR and terrestrial LiDar systems. This USV provides NIWTG-G the capability to teach Unmanned Systems operation technology to their international military students attending their six-month International Hydrographic Management and Engineering Program (IHMEP). This capability keeps U.S. Navy’s hydrography training modern, relevant, and able to meet international accreditation standards with the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) at the category B level.
