Navy Leaders Engage the Hartford Community

by Naval Information Forces Public Affairs
06 May 2024 Recently, Vice Adm. Kelly Aeschbach, commander, Naval Information Forces (NAVIFOR), and Cryptologic Technician (Maintenance) Master Chief Tyler Murray, NAVIFOR Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer, conducted a two-day Executive Engagement Visit (EEV) to Hartford, Conn.  A native of Gales Ferry, Conn., Aeschbach meet with leaders in industry, academia, government, and civic groups.

Government leader engagements included office calls with Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz and her key leadership team, and the Mayor of Hartford, The Honorable Arunan Arulampalam.  Office calls with several academia leaders from the University of Hartford were also conducted.  Gleaning from her position as the most senior Intel officer in the Navy and the most senior woman Information Warfare officer, Aeschbach shared with these diverse audiences her journey as a woman officer that took her through the ranks to now serving as the Information Boss or IBoss for the Navy’s Information Warfare (IW) community.

Community relation events were also part of the EEV schedule.  Aeschbach and Murry paid a call on the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford, which gave these two senior Navy leaders from the officer and enlisted communities an opportunity to share their Navy story with some potential future leaders.  Aeschbach also met with the CEO of Girl Scouts of Connecticut Inc., Diana Mahoney, and used the occasion to revive her Junior Girl Scouts sash and her newly earned CEO patch.

Forging these community connections not only gives the taxpayers a better understanding of today’s Navy, but also encourages the upcoming generation to consider a career in the Navy, and maybe even potentially in the IW community.

NAVIFOR’s mission is to generate, directly and through our leadership of the IW Enterprise, agile and technically superior manned, trained, equipped, and certified combat-ready IW forces to ensure our Navy will decisively DETER, COMPETE, and WIN.
