Senior Chief Alford is a native of Kentucky, and graduated from Butler High School located in his hometown.  He enlisted in the Navy in April 2008 and reported to basic training in Great Lake, Ill. 
 
After graduating from basic training and CTR “A” school, Senior Chief Alford reported to his first assignment aboard USS San Jacinto (CG 56) in Norfolk, Va., completing a 5th Fleet deployment conducting counter piracy operations.  He then volunteered to go aboard USS Stout (DDG 55) as leading TSCSI Supervisor for BMD operations in the Mediterranean Sea, ultimately supporting Operation Odyssey Dawn for Libyan relief efforts.  His next tour was NAVIOCOM Menwith Hill where he performed as an analyst for the MOONPENNY division.  He then transferred to NAVIOCOM Pensacola serving as the Leading Petty Officer of both 104 and 600 Combat Support Teams.  While in Pensacola, he was selected as Chief Petty Officer in 2017.
 
He then served aboard USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) as the DLCPO of Operations Department.  There he completed two deployments, KAKADU and UNITAS, located in Australia and Chile, respectively, and filled the role of Command Managed Equal Opportunity program manager.  In May 2020, he reported to NAVIOCOM Japan where he has filled roles as LCPO on shore and at sea, DLCPO, and occasionally filled in as CMC.  He soon picked up Senior Chief in 2022 and was chosen to fill the role as Command Senior Enlisted Leader for Information Warfare Training Detachment Japan. 
 
Additionally, he is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class of 2020 and CMC / COB school in 2023.  He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Management.
 
Senior Chief Alford has earned numerous personal awards to include Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and various campaign awards.  He has a passion for creative works such as acrylic abstract canvas painting as well as quilting and loves playing various sports such as softball, volleyball and is a black belt in Korean style Taekwondo.
