Senior Chief Jonathan Edward Beer, a native of Texas, enlisted as a Master at Arms in the United States Navy on June 16, 2003, and completed Master at Arms “A” School at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek, Va. in October of the same year.
 
In October 2003, he reported to Security Detachment NAVSUPACT Souda Bay, Greece as a Gate Sentry and Patrolman where he supported base force protection and law enforcement efforts for tenant and visiting commands.  During this tour he was advanced to Seaman Apprentice.
 
In November 2004, he transferred to Security Detachment COMFLTACT Yokosuka, Japan where again he supported base force protection and law enforcement efforts as a Gate Sentry and Patrolman.  During this tour he was advanced to Petty Officer Third Class.
 
In December 2006, he transferred to Security Detachment NAVSUPACT New Orleans, La.  There, he led five Sailors as Shift Supervisor and trained future sentries and patrolman as a Field Training Officer.  During this tour he was advanced to Petty Officer Second Class and completed his A.A. Degree in Information Technology – Networking from the University of Phoenix.
 
In June 2011, he was selected to cross-rate to Cryptologic Technician Collection via the Perform to Serve Program.  In October 2011, he was ordered to Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Maryland where he served as Radio Frequency Remote Operations Center’s Branch Training Manager and CROSSHAIR Net Management Center Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge for 170 joint service personnel.  There, he qualified as an Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist and was promoted to Petty Officer First Class.
 
In March 2016, he transferred to NIOC Whidbey Island, Wash., where he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer and served as the Aircrew Division Leading Chief Petty Officer and as an Airborne Special Operator aboard EP-3E aircraft.  He accumulated over 1,650 flight hours, earned his Naval Aircrew Warfare Specialist designation, his Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist designation, and graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in Software Development and Security from University Maryland University College.
 
In May 2021, he transferred to Naval Information Warfare Training Group Detachment Whidbey Island where he was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer and currently serves as the detachment’s Senior Enlisted Leader for eight Sailors and as a Weapons and Tactics Instructor for the EP-3E aircraft on behalf of NAVIFOR.
 
Senior Chief Beer’s personal awards include the Air Strike/Flight Medal (two), Joint Service Commendation Medal (one), Navy Commendation Medal (one), Joint Service Achievement Medal (one), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two).
