Master Chief Joshua Cox is from the great state of Texas and a 1996 graduate of Gatesville High School.  He entered the Navy in June 2001 and completed boot camp at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Ill., in August of the same year.  Initially, he reported to NATTC Pensacola, Fla., and completed Aviation Mechanic “A” School.  Shortly after reporting to VF-101 Grim Reapers at NAS Oceania, Va., he was transferred to the Security Department as a full time Auxiliary Security force member.  He later cross rated to Master-At-Arms in 2003.  He was selected to Chief Petty Officer in 2013.  Cox holds an Associate in Criminal Justice and Aviation Technology from Coastline College, and is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class (238 Khaki).  Master Chief Cox was selected into the Command Senior Enlisted Leader program in 2022. 
 
Sea tours include USS Dextrous (MCM 13), duty on various MSC vessels throughout the 5th Fleet AOR while assigned to Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron-3 and Coastal Riverine Squadron-2 Dets in Bahrain, Navy Mobile Construction Battalion-133 out of Gulf Port, Miss., with deployments to Okinawa, Japan and Afghanistan and as Bravo Company Senior Enlisted Advisor, Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Kings Bay, Ga.  Overseas tours include duty as a Watch Commander at NSA Gaeta, Italy, and as an Investigator in Baghdad, Iraq with TF-134.
 
Ashore, he served as a Security Watch Commander at NAS Pensacola, Fla., Harbor Patrol Unit Leading Chief Petty Officer / Investigator at NAS Mayport, Fla., and N34 Senior Enlisted Advisor at Command Navy Region South East, Jacksonville, Fla. Master Chief Cox briefly assumed the duties of Command Senior Chief at Navy Support Activity Panama City. 
 
His awards include the Joint Commendation Medal (Iraq), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (seven awards), Good Conduct Medal (seven awards), NATO medal (AFG) and various unit and campaign awards. He is Enlisted Expeditionary, Seabee Combat and Surface Warfare qualified.
